Udupi: The district Vishwa Hindu Parishad president Vilas Nayak has given 7 days time to the police department to withdraw the cases filed by the district police against the activists of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bajrang Dal and Durga Vahini.

Speaking at a press meet held at the press club on Wednesday, January 24 he said that the police department has filed cases against our Hindu leaders including the women for holding an awareness campaign against Love Jihad near the MGM college. In the complaint by the police, it is mentioned that we had held an unlawful assembly and disrupted the traffic movement which is far from the truth. According to the constitution, we have all the right to protest and create awareness on any issues. We have never given any unlawful statements during the campaign. The police acting like the supporters of a selected political party. They have filed a false complaint against us which is condemnable. It is Political sponsored immoral policing, VHP and other sister associations are strongly condemning seriously the police action. The police should withdraw the cases against all 46 people within 7 days. If they fail to withdraw the cases, Hindu outfits will call for a district-wide protest, he warned.

There have been many cases of ‘love jihad’ where Hindu girls have been enticed by Muslim boys and then converted to Islam. Though people used to ignore it earlier, a case on this matter from Kerala had even reached the Supreme Court, he said.

A team is actively said to be working behind Love Jihad. Our intention is to warn our Hindu girls and mothers to be aware of the problems of love jihad and how it is an organized conspiracy to trap and convert our girls to Islam. Hindu girls are also manipulated and used for terrorist activities”.

The workers of the three outfits will visit colleges, workplaces and homes in the district to distribute pamphlets to create awareness on “Love Jihad” in the coming days. We will not stop this campaign, he said.
