Felcy Fernandes Honored for Leadership in The Bharat Scouts and Guides
Bangalore: Felcy Zeena Fernandes, a distinguished educator and community leader, was recognized by His Excellency Thaawarchand Gehlot, the Governor of Karnataka, on September 26, 2025, for her exceptional contributions to the Bharat Scouts and Guides, Dakshina Kannada. The ceremony, held at Raj Bhavan, Bengaluru, celebrated Fernandes’s outstanding leadership and unwavering commitment to fostering a culture of excellence, responsibility, and service within the organization. The Bharat Scouts and Guides, Dakshina Kannada, as a whole, was also lauded for its dedication to these principles.

Fernandes’ journey as an educator began with her training as a Mathematics and Science Teacher. She received her foundational education at Holy Family Primary School, Derebail, followed by Lourdes Girls High School, Bejai, Mangalore. She subsequently graduated from St. Agnes College, Mangalore, and obtained her Bachelor of Education from St. Anne’s College of Education, Mangalore. Her professional career encompassed teaching positions in various high schools across India, laying the groundwork for her future leadership roles.
Following her marriage to Mr. Wilfred Fernandes, Fernandes relocated to Muscat, Sultanate of Oman, where she imparted her knowledge at the Indian School Muscat. Even abroad, her dedication to scouting and guiding remained steadfast. Recognized by the Indian Embassy for her efforts, she organized numerous training camps and tours, promoting the core values of unity and service among young individuals. Her exceptional teaching abilities were further acknowledged with the Excellence in Teaching Award and the Meritorious Award among all Indian Schools in the Sultanate of Oman.

Upon her return to Mangalore post-superannuation, Fernandes assumed the honorary position of District Commissioner, Guides Adult Resource for The Bharat Scouts and Guides, Dakshina Kannada. In this role, she has continued to inspire and empower adult leaders, Scouts, and Guides, furthering the organization’s mission.
Beyond her contributions to education and scouting, Fernandes has also ventured into the culinary world with her YouTube channel, “Felcy’s Kitchen.” Through this platform, she shares her culinary expertise and inspires viewers with her passion for cooking.
Fernandes’ commitment to community service extends to organizing tours and travels, as well as actively participating in religious organizations. She resides in Derebail, Mangalore, with her husband Wilfred and son Shawn, embodying a model for women’s empowerment and societal progress.
