Fishermen in Hejamadi – Padubidri get Bumper Catch of Silver Fishes
Udupi: Fishermen in Hejamadi – Padubidri had a bumper catch of Silverfishes locally called as Bolenjir on Wednesday with tons of fish within a mile’s distance from the shore.
According to the fishermen, changing weather conditions and heavy rainfall in the district must have been responsible for this bumper catch.
The local says that silver fishes are rare to be noticed during fishing. Each fish costs Rs 1.5 in the market, but due to the bumper catch, the price has dropped sharply.
The Hejamadi and Padubidri sea shore wore a look of the festive atmosphere on Wednesday. People took away bags full of fish from the seashore. When the news spread through social media, people from the neighbouring district also came and took away huge quantity of the fish.
