Five Passengers Burnt Alive as Bus Catches Fire in Hiriyur
Chitradurga: In a tragic incident, five passengers including two children were burnt alive and 27 others injured after a bus which they were travelling caught fire in Hiriyur, Chitradurga here on August 11.
According to sources, the bus was carrying 32 passengers to Bengaluru from Vijayapura. When the bus reached near Javagondanahalli in Hiriyur, passengers noticed smoke on the bus. Immediately they alerted the bus driver.
It is suspected that a problem in the engine might have caused the fire. Hiriyur SP Radhika reached the spot for further investigations.
The injured have been shifted to the district government hospital for treatment. A case has been registered in Hiriyur police station, and the investigation is on.
