Good Samaritan Gilbert with ISC Members Fix Potholes and Interlocks in City

Mangaluru: Nowadays people need to think a hundred times about  their safety before they step on or drive on our city roads. The city  roads are full of potholes and with uneven concrete slabs.

When the elected representatives are busy with other work a few social activists think of the safety of the people of the city. One among them is Gilbert D’Souza who always thinks of the people and their safety. He took initiative to repair the potholes and fix the interlocks on the city roads. Today, November 19 Gilbert D’Souza along with the members of Indian Service Club repaired the potholes and laid properly the interlocks near Jyothi and surrounding areas.

Speaking  to Mangalorean.com Gilbert D’Souza said, “Today we are repairing the interlocks in the city by removing the old ones  and replacing them with new. We gathered  at the Jyothi  circle to repair the potholes. We the members of (ISC) the Indian Service Club which was founded in 1991 have also started the cleaning work in various places. We had cleaned the Vas Lane, thereafter we repaired the Arya Samaj Road but did not get any support from the people of the area, hence we had to stop our activities.”

Gilbert further said, “There is awareness among the citizens about green Mangalore City, Swacch Abhiyan etc. So far, not many have come forward to repair the potholes. Instead of blaming others, I thought of doing something good and started the work at Jyothi circle which will continue through out the day. I hope this small good deed from the Indian Service Club will help the general public and the road users.”
