Guinness honour for dance show ‘Maanada Mayilada’

Chennai, April 28 (IANS) The tenth season of “Maanada Mayilada”, a dance show on a Tamil television channel has managed to enter Guinness Book of World Records. It is said to be the first dance reality show to create such a record.

The team of ‘Maanada Mayilada’ managed to set a new record for creating a mammoth set on the show.

“We have come up with a grand Ames illusion set for our show. It is a splendid set covering 4,000 square feet. Forty minutes of the show was shot in the set,” choreographer Kala, who is also the director of the show, told IANS.

“It is a rare achievement and we managed to put a huge set with great difficulties,” she said and added: “We are proud and happy with the honour.”

Speaking about the show, she said: “When we started the show I suggested some English names. But it was Kalaignar TV, who suggested the title Maanada Mayilada. Initially, I was hesitant. But now it has become a household name. Wherever I go, people especially children sing our song. The credit should go to the whole team. They toiled very hard.”

The show over the years has also produced actors as Aishwarya Rajesh.
