HDK meets Rahul, discusses a plan to present a full budget

Bengaluru: Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy on Monday met Congress president Rahul Gandhi and discussed state-related issues including his plan to present a full budget next month.

Kumaraswamy, who drove to Rahul Gandhi’s Tuglak Lane residence here, closeted for more than half an hour. During the meeting, both leaders learnt to have discussed his plan to present a full budget and proposal to announce farm loan waiver scheme.

Kumaraswamy, who is also holding finance portfolio, earlier told media his plan to present a full budget and call Assembly session early next month.

The CM’s plan of presenting a full budget triggered differences among coalition partners as former Chief Minister and co-ordination committee chairman Siddaramaiah favoured only supplementary budget instead of full budget.

Emerging out of the meeting, CM said it was just courtesy meeting and we have discussed several state issues.

“I have also sought Congress full co-operation to run coalition government smoothly. He also promised full support,” he said.

“I also asked him for his ideas on the development of the state and he shared his views,” CM added.

It is learnt that Kumaraswamy also pointed out the need of quelling possible dissidence in the Congress party by filling few vacancies. However, he said he has not discussed the cabinet expansion to fill vacancies in Congress party slots.

“It is up to the Congress to take a decision. They will discuss with their legislators and take suitable decision to solve the small problems in their organisation,” he said.
The Congress is likely to fill four vacancies out of six in two weeks.
