Home Guard Suspended after Selfie with girls goes viral

Udupi: Selfie with girls by a young home guard working with the Shirva Police has gone viral in the Social media.

Sujith Shetty a resident of Manjarpalke Belame has been working as a home guard in the Shirva Police Station since one and a half year. He was appointed on daily pay basis in the Shirva Police Station. He was earlier working on night shift and recently shifted for day shift. He had clicked selfies with 11 girls that had gone viral in the Social media. After his selfies had gone viral the district home commandant Dr Prashanth Shetty suspended him with immediate effect.

According to the Shirva Police, there was no official complaint registered against him. The Home guard district commandant has the authority to suspend him.

District home commandant Dr Prashanth Shetty said, “We have received oral complaints against Sujith Shetty about his selfies with girls had gone viral which damage the image of the home guards. We have suspended him immediately. After we receive a detailed report about him, we will initiate further action”.

  2. Wait a minute – What exactly is the crime here? An adult took selfie with other adults. Is it illegal? What did he mean by ‘image of home guards’? Is there a law making selfies illegal? Was there any force or blackmail? They have suspended him even though there was no complaint or an internal investigation. This is wrong.

    Also, how come media is acting stupid and not questioning the authority in this case? Do our journalists even know how a free society is supposed to work? Or, is it only applicable when BJP is in power?
