Honorary Doctorate for UAE Entrepreneur Syed Khaleelur Rahman
Bhatkal: Syed Khaleelur Rahman, NRI entrepreneur and philanthropist hailing from here and based in the United Arab Emirates for many years, has been awarded an honorary doctorate by the Aldersgate College of Ireland.
The citation recalls his extraordinary contribution to the society in various respects. The honour was bestowed on him at a ceremony held in Atlantis Hotel in Dubai on April 16.
His name was recommended for the honour by Hali Management Consultancy in Sharjah and India Trade and Exhibition Centre.
Khaleeur Rahman is perhaps the very first person from Bhatkal to be honoured with a doctorate at the international level.
Earlier he had the honour of being the first among the Nawayat community from Bhatkal to pass the CA examinations decades ago.
He is popular among all communities and acceptable to everyone from different affiliations and denominations. The people of Bhatkal have expressed happiness over the honour received by one hailing from here.
