I am interested to Contest from Kundapur; Haladi betrayed his Voters – Rakesh Malli

Udupi: The Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) state president Rakesh Malli said that I am ready to contest the forthcoming elections if the party gives me the ticket to contest from the Kundapur Assembly Constituency. He was speaking at a press meet held at the press club on Saturday, February 3.

As per the instructions of senior Party leaders I have started to build the party in the Kundapur Assembly area. To address the people’s grievances I have started to stay in Kundapur for one year. The people of Kundapur are responding with an open mind and I decided to prepare a blueprint of the overall development of the Kundapur Assembly constituency. INTUC has kept forward a demand of 5 seats to its workers across the state and we hope KPCC will consider our demands. If the party gives me a chance to contest from the Kundapur constituency, I will definitely make Kundapur a model constituency in Karnataka.

Criticising Haladi Srinivas Shetty for rejoining the BJP, Rakesh Malli said that it is sad to see that there are no development activities in the whole constituency from the past 20 years. He has served as MLA 4 times in Kundapur but has failed to bring any major and permanent projects to his constituency. Other 4 MLA constituencies of Udupi district have developed in all sectors and no development has taken place in the Kundpaur constituency.

Rakesh Malli demanded Haladi Srinivas Shetty to release the details on the developmental works taken up during his tenure in the Kundapur Assembly constituency. He has failed to utilise the funds released by the State government every year. MLA Haladi Srinivas Shetty had not attended any government programmes. As an MLA he has insulted the protocol.

We are not against Haladi joining any political party and it is his own decision. But the same Haladi Srinivas Shetty during the last assembly elections had contested against the BJP candidate and won the elections by sympathy votes. Haladi Srinivas Shetty who was in a responsible position had resigned in a hurry saying that his name was not on the list of BJP ticket aspirants. He has betrayed the people of Kundapur with selfish motives, he added.

Kota Block President Shanker A Kunder, former ZP member Mallika B Poojary, former TP member Roshni Olivera, District Congress minority wing vice president Derick D’Souza and Y B Raghavendra were present in the press meet.
