I say ‘Tata Bye-bye to Tata Sky’? Their Service and Customer Service Representative Attitude Sucks!

Your Tata Sky Service gets disconnected even if you are a MINUTE late in your payment-but when umpteen times your service is interrupted or no service at all due to bad weather {if happens often these days} you don’t get any credit nor a proper explanation from the CSR- they try to wash their hands with silly reasons-one reason blaming it on the Mother Nature. If the company as a courtesy can’t even give a short grace period to do the payment, instead of disconnecting the service – that is ignorant and bad relationship with their customers.

Mangaluru: My experience with Tata Sky-The Direct Broadcast Satellite Television provider and also with their Customer Service Representatives is not new- with all the inconvenience and hassles experienced with this company and its CSR’s, I should have stopped dealing with them years ago- but with patience carried on to be their customer. But not anymore, I have decided to cancel my contract with Tata Sky- I had enough of their Nataka?

The most important thing once you get the idiotic kit of Tata Sky you are in deep trouble- if you are not happy with the service and channels that you get for the money you have paid, and if you ask for a refund you are out of luck. The money is not refunded and later on when you think economically getting a subscription for 400 bucks a month then few of the MAIN channels diminish and the executive asks us to buy another package so we can view the same, for which you have to pay more. Overall when you ask for disconnection the executive in reverse asks you to find another customer to buy the same idiotic kit. Now tell me who is gonna buy this crap?

I wonder if Sir Ratan Tata is aware of this or not. The TATA’S have been giving good service and products to the middle-class family right from beginning and now what happened? Why is the chairman sleeping? I am not sure whether many of you who have a Tata Sky service, has experienced bad service like me! Their service and most importantly the attitude of CSR simply sucks?

Ever since I had the service with Tata Sky for nearly three years, their service has been getting from bad to worse- but you may be wondering, why the heck did I keep their service until now. Maybe I was a fool. I might have called the CSR lines umpteen number of times, instead of helping they create more issues or disconnect the call midway. I have dealt with their arrogant attitudes- but none of my issues pertaining to the TV channels has been solved. Those guys sitting in their offices, and the CSR’s attending your complaints have done nothing, rather than giving “Sorry” excuses.

Many a time when no proper TV signals are received, all that the CSR tells you is that to reset the box, and then he or she cooly disconnects the phone conversation. Another bad part is that when you opt for help in English, you get connected to Hindi CSR section, where a guy or lady will communicate with you in broken English or you could hear this “Thoda Samay Dijiye, Line Pe Bane Rahiye”. The whole thing stinks! None of them will agree to return your money. Hope the Mystery ouster results in a change here too. Getting through the Tata sky CSR phone lines is one of the biggest problems- you have to wait and wait- and when finally someone one comes on the line, he/she will once again request you to “Kindly Wait”- and then after few minutes of your wait, the line gets automatically disconnected. Or you’ll get a reply that someone will call you back- and that someone will never call. Bah humbug?

Another worst part with Tata Sky service is that their rates go up every now and then, but No proper channels-they will add more religious channels or some food or marketing network channels- and we are unfortunately paying for them. I hardly watch a few channels, among which are CNN, BBC, Republic TV, MTV, VH1, TV9 English, Rishthey channel to watch Kapil Sharma show, Comedy Central, Zee Tv, and a couple more- and I am paying for rest of the crap that is telecasted on Tata Sky. Can’t help with that, but I am very much pissed at the service and CSR attitude- for which reason I want to quit doing business with this company.

Many a time when channels are off for few days, they keep saying to give them a missed call or SMS and they will visit the site and not even charge for it. But surprisingly no one visits or could be after few days. Prior to that, no one attends your calls either. My sincere advice to these CSR’s- you can take some charges but do get the problem solved at the earliest. But please don’t be ignorant by keeping quiet for days. I think only in India you can be taken for a ride like his. In the USA, the company will be sued if the CSR’s are arrogant and careless. The best solution to stop all these nonsense and Company/CSR ignorance is that everyone should gang up and take them to court.

A couple of days ago, I completely forgot to do the payment for the Tata Sky service, and quickly they had disconnected the service at midnight- and next day morning I lost my precious moments of watching the morning news channels- and this got me fumed. I immediately called the CSR centre, and for my bad luck I got a lady CSR on the line- I was hoping to get a man on the line so that I could bombard him for their non-friendly customer service. Anyways not happy with what they did by disconnecting the service, even though I had been their loyal and prompt paying client, the CSR lady was quite reluctant in admitting their fault, instead she gave reasons. And when I raised the question about, the service being disrupted or no service at all due to bad weather, and who’s responsible for getting us the credit for lost time- she simply blamed it on Mother nature- and said, “Such instances happen, Sir?”

Oh well- I thought to myself, there is no point in explaining or arguing with these CSR’s- so sorry to say, I very rudely hang up the phone on her, and made my decision to cancel my subscription with Tata Sky. Enough is enough! Apart from bad service and CSR attitude, the rates of Tata Sky is also too high compared to other DTH services and the channels are also fewer than others. So why Tata Sky? A very bitter experience with Tata Sky, with a long-term punishment I faced for blindly opting the most trusted and marked brand “Tata Sky! The worst experience for any commodity service I have had in my life so far. They play the cheap trick on customers.

I wish I never opted for this … Tata Sky. The channels come and go like random subatomic particles and the customer service seems to be running on Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle. Sorry to add this bad comment Sir Ratan Tata Ji, but I must say that Tata Sky is one of the bad DTH service (Tata) providers in India. Finally, I say “Tata bye-bye, Tata Sky- Your service and CSR attitude really Sucks. I will never opt again for Tata DTH Services- how about you?

  2. After reading This whole incident is like my story of dealing withTATA sky for last 6 years. Finally I got rid of this pissed connection and happy with local DTH service provider.

  4. EVEN I TOO HAD THE SAME SITUATION DEALING WITH THE CSR OF TATA SKY TO RESOLVE SOME ISSUES- BUT ALL IN VAIN- AND I FINALLY QUIT DOING BUSINESS WITH THEM. LIKE THE AUTHOR HAD MENTIONED- THEIR SERVICE AND CSR ATTITUDE SUCKS- I FULLY AGREE WITH ALFY.

  5. I agree with this gentlemen, I m a tatasth customers for more then 12 years. Their services has gone worst. Last 3 I have been facing problems , which I have not faced in last 8 years , set top box are not working, every 1 ir 2 months the issues is there already changed 4 set top box in last 6 months.

    Service engineers reject call saying local area cable operator problem , they don’t come fir 3 to 4 days, then speak to higher authories n write email n then follow up is done. Whenever recharge is done half the time services are not working, some or the other technical problem. No refund is done
    3 set top box , I m using 1 has to imagination for a record , 3 will not work together..
    Lot of problem.
    Me too planning to stop service..
    Please advice a better DTH provider..

  6. TATASKY SHOULD HAVE A CUSTOMER CARE CENTRE IN MAJOR TOWNS AND CITIES WHERE CUSTOMERS CAN INTERACT DIRECTLY WITH COMPANY REPRESENTATIVES. I YOU RELY ONLY ON CALL CENTERS THIS IS BOUND TO HAPPEN. ALL TELEPHONE COMPANIES SPEND ON CUSTOMER CARE CENTRERS, WHY CAN’T TATASKY ?. IT SHOULD BE MADE MANDATORY BY THE GOVT AS PART OF CUSTOMER RIGHTS PROTECTION.

My experience with them that one day wind come speedily and my tata sky umbrella change the direction and then start getting message of weather prblem i asked executive to come n rectify he just adjusted umbrella and charged me 300 rupees then on words i don’t call them but do it myself adjustments. I thought to leave tata sky so many times because of their uncertain changing charges.

  8. K srinivasan, I have been using for the past 10 years , there was no problem ,even i had not made the payment on time they disconnected it immediately and after making the payment, immediately they reconneted its our fault.Till date i am happy with their service.

More than ten years have passed we r using Taatasky but we r unsatisfied because it became costly ,its showing many aaltu Faltu news channel & entertainment channels , regional channels , dharmik channels which we never watch never like So Tatasky authority should revise packages package charges everything set according viewers choice Show English language channels of movies serials sports entertainment channels I remember a few years back they were showing all English channels.Now bad bhunnkas service by Tatas.by ckbiob

  10. I had no issues with Tata Sky customer service so far. They are also very quick to respond on Twitter and solve issues.

  11. I have used many DTH providers all of them face issues during the rains. Currently i am using Tata Sky and surprisingly the outage has reduced. Whenever there is an issue with the connection due to weather i log on to their mobile app.

  12. Even I have a major issue regarding TATA SKY. Their services have gone from bad to worse. And the technicians sent by them are bloody greedy. They will charge for everything without a proper bill, on the top bully you if you complain. It’s true when they tell you someone will call in next 24 hours, the 24 hours never come and so does the. It’s really a bad state of affairs Mr Ratan Tata. We believed in the name and in you, but if nothing is done you might loose your so called valuable customers.

  13. What do you mean by channels diminishing? Care to elaborate? You know what you are paying for and channels are always available according to the package you select.

  14. if you dont pay for the service any connection is disconnected! But i have seen almost instant reconnection as soon as the payment is done.
