ICYM Kalmadi members visit Manasa, Pamboor

Udupi: The members of the Indian Catholic Youth Movement Kalmadi along with 4 Catechism teachers, 1 church secretary and 7 members from the sponsor family visited Manasa, Pamboor, the School for Children with Special Needs.

The program began with an introduction and welcoming the gathering by the president of Manasa Rehabilitation School, Henry Menezes followed by a prayer service conducted by ICYM and teachers. For the introductory part, Jeshma Mendonca, the cultural secretary of ICYM Kalmady took the initiative of being the emcee. The children, eager for attention, rush over, their eyes bright with curiosity.

The air was filled with laughter and chatter as we conducted 3 games and 5 action songs which we had planned before visiting the school under the leadership of Namitha Fernandes, Vice president of ICYM who took in charge of conducting games and action songs. Some are shy at first, peeking out from behind others, while others boldly introduce themselves, craving for interaction. Their resilience is striking, finding joy in simple moments despite their challenges.

Leaving is bittersweet. As a token of love and gratitude, ICYM Kalmady had donated soap, toothbrush, toothpaste and an antiseptic liquid bottle for every child present there. The hugs and smiles they give are heartfelt, leaving a lasting impression on your heart. You depart with a mix of emotions—grateful for the opportunity to bring a bit of joy to their lives, but also with a renewed sense of purpose to support organizations that provide love and care for these vulnerable children.
