In Bid to Promote Public Transport, DC Hephsiba Leaves Govt. Vehicle and Travels to Work by Bus

Udupi: The Deputy Commissioner, additional DC, and other district-level officials who were travelling in air-conditioned cars until Thursday, May 30 suddenly made a plan to travel by public transport vehicles to their respective offices.

Under the direction of Deputy Commissioner Hephsiba Rani Korlapati, Additional DC Vidya Kumar and other officials travelled to the DC office at Rajathadri, Manipal in a single vehicle with a lot of other people on board.

On the morning of May 30, Thursday at about 9:30 am, the Deputy Commissioner left her official government vehicle at home and took the bus accompanied by her driver and gunman. Additional DC Vidya Kumar, who stays close to the DC’s house, also left her government vehicle at home and accompanied DC Hephsiba Rani Korlapati. Various government officials who are staying at the government quarters in Ajjarkadu also joined the Deputy Commissioner.

The bus starting from the DC’s house, passed through Bannanje Taluk office, City Bus stand, MGM College, and arrived at the DC office, Manipal at around 9:50 am.

According to the DC, using Public transport once a week, we can reduce carbon emissions and control air pollution in the city. It will also encourage the public to follow the same. She also vowed to travel to work by public transport vehicle every Thursday.
