Indrali Jayadeva Motors Fire mishap – Goods worth Rs 5.75 crore gutted

Udupi: Goods worth Rs 5.75 crore were gutted in the fire mishap that occurred at the multi-storey building at Indrali on Sunday Night.

According to the Press Release issued by the SP office on Monday, June 24. Jayadeva Motors, a bike showroom situated on the first and second floor of the building incurred a huge loss of over Rs five crore.

As per the complaint filed by the owner Jayaram Suvarna. 11 scooters were completely damaged while two are partially damaged. In addition, tyres were also gutted in the mishap and 25 scooters were shifted to a safer location.

A cloth showroom on the ground floor was partially damaged. The loss is estimated to be about Rs 10 lakh, according to a complaint filed by owner Sheshadri Upadhyaya.

In another complaint, owner of Krishna Traders, Aravind Kumar has claimed that goods including computers and laptops, worth Rs 61.69 lakhs have been gutted in the fire. Gym owner Saujanya A Shetty said that equipment worth Rs 3.50 lakh had also been damaged in the fire mishap.

According to the preliminary investigation, an electrical short circuit is said to be the reason for the mishap. The spark from the electric board spread to the entire building.

Udupi SP Nisha James along with officials from the fire department visited the spot and collected all the necessary information.
