Kadri Police arrest 3 persons in Kidnap of Doctor on May 3

Mangaluru: “The Kadri police have arrested three persons on May 13, from Nanthur in connection with the kidnap and looting of a doctor on May 3”, said the police commissioner Chandra Sekhar in a press meet held at his office here on May 16.

Addressing the mediapersons Police Commissioner Chandra Sekhar said, “The accused Ramzi was known to the Doctor. A sketch was prepared by Ramzi and his friend Sadiq to loot the doctor. On May 3, Mohammed Ramzi along with Hasan Sadiq Iqbal, Narayan Salian and other two including a girl kidnapped the Doctor. They then assaulted the doctor and threatened to finish him off. They also forced the doctor sign the RTGS forms for the transfer of funds from his account. The bank officials on suspicion of the huge transfer of funds called the doctor who informed the bank officer to transfer Rs 14.4 Lakh from his account to Ramzi’s account. The accused also used the doctor’s credit card for purchasing goods.

After the transfer of funds, the accused released the doctor. On May 12, the doctor filed a complaint in the Kadri police station. Based on the complaint the police got into action and arrested three persons on May 13 from Nanthur.

The arrested have been identified as Mohammed Ramzi (23) a resident of Masthikatte Ullal, Hasan Sadiq Iqbal (30) from Ullal and Narayan Salian (52) a noted criminal from Belthangady residing at Ullal, Someshwar.

All the three have been produced before the court on May 14 and remanded to police custody for three days. The search is on for Rakesh and a woman who had accompanied the accused.
