KMC Dept of Forensic Medicine conducts projects- ‘Suraksha’ and ‘Gyaan Dan Saptah’

Mangaluru : Project- Suraksha Road Traffic accidents is one of the commonest reasons for citizen morbidities and mortalities. As medical students, it is even more important to not only be aware of traffic rules but also to follow them properly so as to become good role models in the society and lead by example. Keeping this in mind, this DAAN UTSAV, the Department of Forensic Medicine in association with The Mangaluru Police Department and VSO organized a session on road safety for students of KMC Mangaluru.

ACP Manjunath Shetty and his colleague were invited as chief guest for the same. Videos of road traffic accidents were shown and explained properly. Emphasis was made on the recent amendments in the fees for breaking any traffic rules. It was an enlightening and enriching event for all the students.

Project- Gyaan Daan Saptah :

Project- Gyaan Daan Saptah On the occasion of DAAN UTSAV 2019- The Department of Forensic Medicine in association with volunteer service organization organized an educational visit to the forensic department museum for the students of SDM Law College on 4th October 2019. The students were taught basics of forensic medicine including topics like sex determination from bones, autopsy, study of the dead and identification of snakes. The importance of forensic medicine in criminal procedures was also highlighted through this.

As students of law, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the medical aspect of crime and gained a lot from this event. Towards the end, students participated in a video feedback session for the same. It was Daan of the highest measure- Education for a greater good.
