Kundapur: A bike rider died and the pillion rider was seriously injured when their bike hit a bullet tanker on the Herikudru bridge, Kundapur here on Saturday, May 2 evening.
The deceased has been identified as Kariyappa Poojary (44), a resident of Karki and the injured pillion rider is Abhishek (26), a resident of Hattiyangadi. Kariyappa is a native of Shivamogga and worked in a tile factory at Karki Hattiyangadi.
According to the police, on Saturday evening after purchasing grocery from the Kundapur Market, Kariyappa and Abhishek were riding towards Hattiyangadi when an oncoming bullet tanker rammed into their bike. Kariyappa was killed on the spot. Abhishek, who was injured seriously, is admitted in a private hospital in Kundapur.
Kariyappa is survived by his wife and two daughters. A case has been registered in the Kundapur Traffic Police Station.
