Liquor from Goa Seized on Madgaon-Mangaluru Passenger train

Udupi: Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel attached to the Karwar Railway Station on March 16, seized liquor from Goa worth Rs. 10,000 being illegally transported on the train at Karwar.

A release from the Konkan Railway Corporation here said that the RPF was in the process of conducting special checking, particularly in view of the smuggling of cheap liquor to Karnataka. While they were inspecting the train no. 56641, Madgaon-Mangaluru Central Passenger, they noticed and seized unclaimed carton boxes containing 72 bottles of liquor from Goa in the general compartment.

The seized Liquor has been handed over to excise department, Karwar.
