Madikeri: The picturesque picnic spot of Chelavara falls near Cheyyandane between Madikeri and Virajpet attracts thousands of visitors every year.
Visitors get carried away by the majestic atmosphere and eye-catching beauty of nature. Many deaths, young people in particular, have occurred here owing to failure to take precautions.
Shivaprasad aka Pradeep (26), a resident of Nehru Nagar in Virajpet, had arrived at the spot with a few friends on Sunday evening. As they kept playing in water, Pradeep wanted to click a selfie with his friends. As he was trying to do so, he lost balance and fell into deep water.
Pradeep’s marriage had taken place only a few months ago, said informed sources.
