Man Arrested for Selling Alcohol Illegally in Udupi Public Place

Udupi: City police have apprehended an individual for the illicit sale of alcohol in a public area. The accused has been identified as Shambhulinga Madivala (37), a resident of Ranebennur, Haveri.

Acting on credible information received on Wednesday, police inspectors from the Udupi City police station conducted a raid near Asha Bar, situated near the old KSRTC bus stand. The operation led to the discovery of Shambhulinga engaging in the illegal sale of alcohol in a public location, lacking the requisite license and with the intention of personal financial gain. Authorities promptly arrested the accused and confiscated alcohol sachets of various brands, estimated to be worth Rs. 2,600, along with Rs. 3,960 in cash.

A formal case has been registered at the Udupi city police station under crime number 96/2025, invoking Sections 32 and 34 of the Excise Act. Shambhulinga Madivala is currently in custody and will be presented before the court.
