Man dies of suspected dengue

Mangaluru: A businessman died due to suspected dengue at a private hospital in the city on Friday.

The deceased is Prashanth Saralaya, a resident of Paramogaru in Bantwal taluk. He was admitted to a medical college hospital in the city four days ago. However, officials of the health and family welfare department said they have not received any information about dengue death.

Many have died due to suspected dengue fever in the recent past. Madhushree,19, a BSc second year student of a city college, and a resident of Salethur in Bantwal, had died on August 23. Prashanth Ponnodi, 39, a resident of B.Mooda village in Bantwal taluk, Karhtik, a resident of Mulihithlu in Bolar in the city, and video journalist Nagesh Padu, had also died of suspected dengue and other complications in the recent past. As per government data, 948 cases of dengue have been reported in Dakshina Kannada district this year.
