Man jumps to death at Makkah’s Grand Mosque
Saudhi Arebia: An Asian man jumped to his death from the roof of the Grand Mosque in Makkah, SPA reported on Saturday.
According to a statement issued by Makkah police spokesman, the incident occured at 9:20pm on Friday – when a foreigner threw himself from the roof of the mosque.
A video of the incident has gone viral online.
In the video, taken from the opposite end of the mosque, the man can be seen throwing himself from the roof of the Grand Mosque to the ground floor of the circumambulation nave, resulting in his immediate death, SPA added.
The police spokesman said that the body was rushed to a hospital.
An investigation has been initiated into the incident to identity the person and his reasons behind the jump.
It is noteworthy that the incident occurred despite a strong round fence has been erected to protect people from falling down.
