The Registrar of Karnataka Beary Sahitya Academy Umarabba welcomed the gathering. The president of Beary Sahitya Academy B A Mohammed Hanif delivered the keynote address. Speaking on the occasion Harikrishna Punaroor said that the academy president along with the members are striving hard for the growth of the Beary language. “Academies are there for the total development of the particular language. We have Konkani, Kannada, Tulu and Beary Sahitya Academies, which are striving hard for the growth of their respective languages. Beary Sahitya Academy has released many books under the able leadership of the president Hanif.”

Ibrahim Kodijal who arrived later was felicitated on the occasion. Addressing the gathering Ibrahim Kodijal said, “I have taken over as the chairman of MUDA recently, I need to develop the city. If any city needs to be developed, we need to retain communal harmony in the society. After becoming the chairman of MUDA, many people from gulf countries have showed their willingness to invest in Dakshina Kannada, they have also said that they were hesitant because of the communal violence in the district. Our District minister in-charge is a secular person, he is striving hard to bring back communal harmony and peace in the society. The people of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi are known to be intellectuals but at the same time due to communal violence, the district has got a bad name.” While concluding, Kodijal said that we should all work for communal harmony in the district, so that people from other countries will willingly come to Mangaluru and invest in the development of the district. “Let us all join hands to make our district a safe place to live in.”

Member of Beary Sahitya Academy Yusuf Vaktar delivered the vote of thanks. Member Beary Sahitya Academy Abdul Hamid Golthamajal compered the programme.
