After the Tulabhara ceremony speaking to the mediapersons Sri Vishvesha Tirtha Swamiji said that the Dalits will  be welcomed for the Paryaya on January 18. There will not be any discrimination and food will be served to all the devotees without any discrimination of caste and colour. Dalits will be allowed to sit with the other devotees and have food. In Udupi and Mysuru we have already built two hostels for the welfare of the Dalit students.

He also stressed that if anyone is willing to take Bhakti Deeksha or Nama Deeksha they are most welcome but they should give up alcohol and be purely vegetarian.

It is purely in the hands of the temple authorities to allow the Dalits to perform Puja. He also said that the Made Made Snana will be stopped and Yede Snana will be allowed in Sri Krishna Math.

He also said, “I am ascending the Paryaya Peetha for the fifth time and I need support from all the devotees”.

  1. Scientifically there is no caste so called Dalits. These are all manmade plots to loot the living people and destroy them. All caste system should be destroyed not only in Karnaktak, but all over India. This may take atleast 1000000 years or beyond or may not destroy. History can’t be corrected.

  2. When I watched the color discrimination in the U.S. close to half a century back in the same religion, I had the worst shock of life. The Missionaries went to Africa to preach about a loving GOD, but here they were widely separated by a wall of color. At the time of blood transfusion, the patients don’t have the least idea whether the blood is taken from a black-white-brown or yellow person. When I did attend the Black Churches, some of my Indian friends were looking at me as if I was mentally disoriented.

Former Indian President Dr. K.R. Narayan in his life story stated, while he was in school, the Hindu children don’t want to sit close to him. The Muslim and Christian boys were sitting close to him. Is there any difference in the social psychology of the boys of different religions? No, they were taught these issues at home, so they will be reacting at the schools.

It is a great step in the right direction that Swamiji is taking solid steps so that the Dalits will be sitting and eating with the so called higher caste people of Hinduism.

  3. How could you identify a Dalit or non-dalit? Are you going to test the blood of all entrants to the temple and whether such test would reveal the identify of a Dalit? This caste system was created long ago by the powerful and the privileged to suppress the poor and less powerful to achieve their self interest and hope a day will come when all persons are treated alike by virtue of what they are and not who they are. It is high time that temples and other institutions who discriminated against so called dalits and other backward classes must make amends to neutralize their past sins.
