Addressing the protesters, General Secretary of District Youth Congress Abdul Aziz said that the Union cabinet, using the executive powers, has made it easy for businessmen to acquire the lands of farmers. “With this decision, the BJP led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is helping businessmen acquire land belonging to farmers. The Youth Congress has protested in 28 Lok Sabha constituencies and in the coming days, we will intensify our protest if the NDA government will not withdraw the land acquisition ordinance.”

Mithun Rai speaking on the occasion said, “We had protested in front the MPs houses but in our district, our MP is staying in an apartment. If we protest in front of his house, the other occupants in the apartments will face problems. We do not want to trouble the people. The BJP government had passed two ordinances to allow foreign insurance firms to raise their stakes in local joint ventures and the land acquisition ordinance. The central government should withdraw the land acquisition ordinance,” he said. “In the coming days, the Youth congress will intensify its protest if the land acquisition ordinance is not withdrawn.”
The protesters shouted anti BJP slogans and demanded MP Nalin Kumar Kateel to take necessary steps to withdraw the land acquisition ordinance.
