Mangaluru: Father Muller Medical College held a press meet at the Press club Urwahere on January 11.

Addressing the mediapersons Dr Princy Louis Palatty, Head South India UNESCO chair Bioethics at FMMC said “Father Muller Medical College is conducting three programmes under the South India unit of UNESCO chair in Bioethics, at Father Muller Medical College, on 17th January 2016. Psychopharminar 2016 this seminar on psychopharmacology is being conducted for the third time in succession. It is sign of a successful collaboration of two mega institutions with like minded purposive foray to empower and impart knowledge. Each time there are additional features added to make it worthwhile for attendees, quiz for postgraduates and paper presentation for pg and staff. The resource persons are handpicked having knowledge commitment and dedication to this focused area.”

She further said “The dawn of contemporary psycharmacology marked the beginning of the use of psychotropic drugs to treat psychiatric disorders. By having comprehensive understanding of the patients circumstances, the psychiatrist may benefit from the assistance of other multidisciplinary team members. Having the knowledge of psychotropic drugs will help the mental health professionals to develop clinical skills in relevant assessments and interventions for the patients receiving such drugs. It is the growing challenge for the professionals to understand potential benefits and limitations of the different types of drugs. The objectives of this program is to address the recent trends in psychotropic drugs. To identify optimal treatment of different psychiatric disorders.
