Mangaluru: Since cloudy outlook and rain prevailed in the coastal districts, moon could not be sighted on Wednesday, June 16 evening.

However, upon receiving reports of sighting in Kozhikode on the Kerala coast, the qazis of DK and Udupi have officially announced the commencement of the Holy Month of Ramadan from June 17.

Most other parts of the state and the Gulf countries will have Ramadan from June 18.
