Mangaluru: Lady Police SI Suspended for delaying in Registering Student Nun’s Kidnapping Incident

Mangaluru: According to reports Police Commissioner’s office, a lady police Sub Inspector at Mangaluru East Police station has been suspended by Police Commissioner S Murugan, for her delay in registering the complaint of a student (nun) who had been allegedly kidnapped and robbed on Monday.

After she was kidnapped and later escaped from the hands of the kidnappers, nun had rushed to the nearby Mangaluru East Police to register the complaint. The lady Assistant Sub Inspector at the station made her wait from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. before asking Abraham to file the complaint with the jurisdictional Mangaluru Rural Police Station.

Police Commissioner Murugan had issued an order to place the SI under suspension pending an inquiry. In the meantime, the Police Commissioner has also sought an explanation from Police Sub Inspector.

In the meantime, the 22-year-old physiotherapy student nun has filed a case in Mangaluru Rural Police station. According to the Mangluru Rural Police, she got down from a bus at the Mahaveera Junction.(Kankanady Pumpwell). Before she could enter the rear gate of Father Muller Medical College leading to the hostel, she was allegedly dragged- into an auto-rickshaw, which drove away.

The kidnappers also stole her ring, purse with money, identity cards and cell phone .When the auto slowed down near a speed hump she managed to jump out of the auto-rickshaw and escaped. Smelling danger the kidnappers took off. Later Nun went to file a complaint at the police station.

It is learnt, that the student, who is a nun with Bethany Sisters, contacted her superior, who in turn informed the college. A vehicle was sent with a lecturer. She first approached the Mangaluru East Police and then filed a complaint with the Mangaluru Rural Police. The police have registered a case of kidnap and robber
