Mangaluru: Lok Adalat Facilitates Reconciliation of Divorcing Couple
Mangaluru: In a noteworthy occurrence at the Lok Adalat convened on Saturday at the Dakshina Kannada District Court, a couple seeking dissolution of their marriage has been successfully reunited. Harish and Shashikala, previously embroiled in marital discord, had initiated divorce proceedings, citing irreconcilable differences as the basis for their separation.
Following the formal commencement of legal proceedings, an attempt was made to mediate the dispute through the auspices of court-sponsored mediation services. These efforts culminated in a mutually acceptable compromise between the two parties. Consequently, Harish and Shashikala reached a consensus to withdraw their petition for divorce and resume their familial life together.
In accordance with their expressed desire for reconciliation, Harish and Shashikala attended the Lok Adalat session on Saturday, where they publicly affirmed their commitment to reunification by exchanging garlands. This symbolic gesture of renewed commitment took place in the presence of Principal District Judge Basavaraj, signifying the court’s sanction and support for their decision.
The proceedings were also witnessed by the Member Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Judge Jaibunnisa, alongside judges representing various courts within the district, and members of the legal profession. The presence of these dignitaries underscored the significance of the Lok Adalat as a forum for amicable dispute resolution and its role in fostering social harmony. The successful reconciliation of Harish and Shashikala serves as an exemplary demonstration of the efficacy of alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in resolving marital conflicts and preserving the institution of family.
