Mangaluru: MSME Organizes National Vendor Development Cum Industrial Exhibition

Mangaluru: Branch of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Development Institute, Mangaluru under Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India, in association with District Industries Centre, Mangaluru, Govt. of Karnataka and District Small Industries Association, Mangaluru inaugurated an Industrial Exhibition at Hotel Motimahal here on 25th for the benefit of Micro, Small enterprises and prospective entrepreneurs of the region. The exhibition/seminar will continue also on 26 March. In the exhibition, value added seminars, discussion of Public Procurement policy and buyers-sellers interaction with large industries and Central Public Sectors were arranged for vendor development and marketing support for MSE Sector. Central PSUs proposed to exhibit the requirement that can be procured from local MSE units.

The programme began with invoking God’s blessings through a prayer song rendered by three students, Jyothi, Kavitha and Megha of Women ITI-Bondel, Mangaluru, followed by introduction of guests and welcome address by Sundar SM-Assistant Director, MSME- DI, Mangaluru. In his welcome address, Sundar said, ” MSME organizes the National Vendor Development Programme and Industrial Exhibition in collaboration with DIC, various Industrial Associations/PSUs/Railways/Defense organizations. this has become an important platform for exchange of information and for the development of vendors for the large buyers. We are in touch with various segments of industry mainly engineering, leather garments, machinery suppliers, raw material, and other inputs. MSMEs take part in such events very enthusiastically”.

The programme was inaugurated by lighting the traditional lamp by H P Pai- Group General Manager-Materials- MRPL, Mangaluru, along with P.V.Velayudhan, Director, Br.MSME-DI, Mangaluru, S.G.Hegde, Joint Director, District Industries Centre, Mangaluru, Nigam G. Vasani, President, Kanara Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Mangaluru, N. Arun Padiyar, President, District  Small Industries Association, Yeyyadi, Mangaluru, M.J.Shetty, President, Kanara  Small Industries Association, Baikampady, Mangaluru who were the guests of honour. Sundar Sherigara M and G Nagaraja- both Asst. Directors, MSME-DI, Mangaluru also joined in the ceremony.

HP Pai addressing the gathering said, “This project is an good opportunity for displaying your products and services of MSMEs during which the entrepreneurs will get chances to interact with Central Public Sector, who are in need of valuable vendors. It is also an opportunity to display/publicize SMEs capabilities at right platform to motivate Large Scale Units/Govt PSUs to consider purchasing from MSME sector.”

S G Hegde speaking during the occasion said, “This project is organized with the objectives like- Business opportunities for MSMEs to display, advertise, market their products, services; a common platform for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises and Govt. buying departments for vendor development. ; Workshop on Public Procurement Policy for MSEs order-2012 and various schemes of Ministry of MSME.; Discussion on stores requirement and vendor registration process for various government agencies, PSUs and large industries”.

PV Valayudhan addressing the audience briefed about the various benefits offered by MSME, and he urged the entrepreneurs to avail all the grants/schemes offered by the Govt. of India for their growth and success of their businesses. Nigam Vasani, and MJ Shetty also spoke during the occasion. The dignitaries on the dais were presented with mementos as token of love from the organizers. The vote of thanks was proposed by G Nagaraja, and the programme was professionally compered by Priya. The Exhibition featured over 40 stalls of various categories.
