Mangaluru: Placement Agent who Fleeced Aspirants with Promises of Foreign Jobs Arrested

Mangaluru: The Bunder police on Saturday arrested Purushottam (27) of Nellyadi on charges of collecting huge amounts from job aspirants and failing to provide them with employment abroad as promised.

He ran a placement centre called ‘Shineway Manpower Consultancy’ in Balmatta for the past 2 years. He had advertised job opportunities in overseas centres. He is said to have collected over Rs 10 lakh from about 25 to 30 applicants, hailing from DK, Kerala, Chennai and other distant places.

They had all submitted their passports and paid the amounts. Even after a year had elapsed, he had failed to give them jobs nor did return their amounts or passports. The passports of only a  few were mailed to their home addresses.

Rakesh of Kottar Chowki in the city had complained to the police in the matter. They are pursuing the case.
