To mark the great achievement, Kargil victory day is observed every year on July 26. This time around, twin Bharatanatyam performers, Ananya and Apoorva Rao from the city, will regale the armed forces to commemorate the event.

They will present their performances in three places, at Leh in Kashmir in the presence of army officers on July 22, in the soldiers’ camp in Kumbatang, Drass on July 24 and finally at the Kargil Vijay Divas observance on July 26.

Besides, Suma Vasant from Ujire will join them in performing vocal recitals. The young artistes had a long ambition of doing something for the armed forces who sacrifice so much to guard the borders.

The family has decided to bear all the travel and other expenses. When they contacted the public relations department of the Indian army through the official website, they received good response. The army top brass were impressed by their credentials and records of past performances.

The twin sisters are disciples of guru Vidyashree Radhakrishna of Gana Nritya Academy.
