MCC orders Moideen Bava’s Wife to Stop Bldg Work

Mangaluru City Corporation has served a notice on MLA Moideen Bava’s wife, Nageena M Bava for unauthorized construction of a building without a licence. “Elected representatives should be models and not violators of law” – BJP Councillors.

“A legislator should be a model citizen. MLA Moideen Bava has failed to prevail upon his wife to act as per law,” – Social activist Hanumanth G Kamath

Mangaluru: Mangaluru City North MLA Moideen Bava’s wife Nageena M Bava is in trouble with MCC! A notice has been issued by Mangaluru City Corporation to Nageena for not obtaining a licence to build two additional floors on an old building owned by her in Surathkal. This old building is near to the house where the MLA Bava resides. The notice was issued after MCC received a complaint by Hanumanth G Kamath, a social activist who has accused Mrs. Bava of constructing the first and second floors on the old “Bava Super Market” building in Chokkabettu, with necessary licence and documents.

The MCC Commissioner of the civic body has asked Nageena Bava to immediately stop the construction work, and has requested her to produce documents related to the old building with numbers: 9-38/2, and 9-38/3 within seven days-only after securing the necessary license from MCC that she can restart the construction work. It is learnt that as per the documents produced to MCC by activist Kamath under the Right to Information Act, it was on May 28 that Nageena Bava had applied to the Mangaluru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) seeking plan approval to construct the two floors on the old building. But this approval is necessary for getting building licence from the corporation, which was not done by Mrs Bava.

Sources reveal that MUDA had carried out a survey of the land and issued a notice on June 7, 2016 requesting Nageena Bava to deposit Rs 6.7 lakh for approving the plan. But unfortunately Nageena without getting the approval had gone ahead with the construction, and now she is facing all the consequences from MCC. In the meantime, MLA Moideen Bava has his version to tell that his wife had sought permission to construct his office and two rooms for his visitors. “My wife sought permission from the MUDA to permit construction by considering the site as residential for which the MUDA sought Rs. 6.7 lakh.

A fortnight ago she has sought permission from the MUDA to permit construction by considering it as a commercial site. As this permission takes time, we went ahead with the construction to complete the work quickly and give relief to visitors, We have stopped the construction work when we got the notice from MCC” added the MLA.
