Mithun Rai Abhimani Balaga ( Mithun Rai Fans Club) donates Rs 30 Thousand to a Mother for Son’s Medical Expenses, Adyarpadavu, in the outskirts of Mangaluru.

Mangaluru: In my last article ” Making a Difference! ‘DK Students Mithun Rai Fan Club’ Youth Feed the Needy & Stray Dogs ” published on 25 April 2020 in Mangalorean.com, I had quoted Matthew 25:40 in Bible, where Jesus says, “Whatever you have done to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you have done it to me.” One really does matter. You can help the needy around you in practical, creative ways. And this is exactly what a bevy of youngsters belonging to the Dakshina Kannada Mithun Rai (President of D K Youth Congress) Fans Club, have been doing to help the less fortunate and the needy with love, right now during the lockdown in order to contain Covid-19. “The difference between what we do and what we are capable of doing would suffice to solve most of the world’s problems” had said Mahatma Gandhi, and Mother Teresa once said, “We cannot do great things on this Earth, Only small things with great love.”.
And that’s exactly these Youth did in the time of distress and covid-19 pandemic, where they had make a difference in the lives of the needy in the community, during lockdown, where many migrant workers and low wage labourers are suffering, with no income- and this Balaga/Team distributed food to more than 8000 people in and around around, since 20 days. The initiative was taken up by Primus Mario D’souza, who just completed his Bachelors in Hotel Management at Milagres Degree College, Mangaluru- and was joined by his friends, namely-Alfaz Hameed, Arfak, Priston, Rishanth, Lohith, Ravi, Arun, among others- and together they have all made a difference in the society through their service to humanity and also to stray animals.

And now they have gone a step forward by helping a family pay for the medical expenses of one of their members, who had a fatal injury. And this time, few members of “Team Mithun Rai Abhimani Balaga: from Adyar Padavu had joined in this community project. Speaking to Team Mangalorean, Primus Mario D’souza said, ” It was a disastrous day for 21-year-old Manoj Poojari, a resident of Adyarpadavu, in the outskirts of Mangaluru. Along with his friends, Manoj being a Good Samaritan was all set to help in repairing the house roof of one Mrs. Bhavani, in the neighbourhood. Due to bad luck, as the repair work was going on, the dilapidated house wall collapsed on Manoj, resulting in a fatal injury to his spinal cord and the esophagus (which is the part of the alimentary canal which connects the throat to the stomach. In humans and other vertebrates it is a muscular tube lined with mucous membrane).

” Manoj who was the sole bread winner of the household is bed ridden at the moment and is leading a miserable life. Already there have been four surgeries and good news is that he is responding positively. Being the sole earning member of the family, Manoj was a strong pillar for his family consisting of his ill mother , elder un-married sister and a younger brother. His treatment is estimated to cost in excess of Rs 7.5 Lakhs. Manoj presently has pending hospital bills of Rs 5.5 Lakhs and further cost of Rs 5-6 thousand a month for his treatment. Due to these circumstances, the family is devastated and helpless. Therefore, as part of our small contribution towards Manoj’s treatment expenses, we handed over Rs 30 thousand cash to his mother, in the presence of DK Youth Congress president Mithun Rai” added Primus.

Yes, when the community is in distress during this pandemic, we need young men and team like DK Students Mithun Rai Fan Club-Mangaluru/Adyarpadavu. No doubt this Team is making a difference with their generosity and service. God has given us two hands-one to receive, and one to give. And this has been the initiative of this energetic and young Team, where they are helping the needy during this pandemic, and also others in need- and are conscious about the downtrodden. It’s nice to note that the members of this Club are doing yeomen service to the community.

And if their mentors and elders have taught them anything, it is to lean in to the spaces that are life giving and risky, unwilling and painful, tender, yet blessed! I praise these young masses of the Club, which is trying immensely in their passion and drive in their service to the society- to help people in times of distress and hardship, under the leadership of Primus D’souza. The efforts of the Team in helping out the society during this time of pandemic and also to Manoj’s family through this little contribution while still young is praiseworthy. May God bless them for what they are all doing. I bet, Mithun Rai, will be proud of his YOUNG FANS! or shall I call them the “COVID WARRIORS”!
