Modi Acting like Dictator, Rejecting Congress and JD(S) to form Govt is Murder of Democracy – Lobo
Mangaluru: The District Congress Committee staged a protest in front of the Gandhi statue, near Town Hall here on May 17.
Party workers shouted slogans against the governor and the BJP for misusing power and allowing Yeddyurappa to be sworn in as the CM.
Addressing the protesters, former MLA J R Lobo said, “Today is a black day in the history of Karnataka because the governor did not give Congress and JD(S) the opportunity to form the government. In Goa, even though the BJP did not get the majority to form the government, the governor allowed them to form a coalition government. But in Karnataka, it seems like it’s another law. When we showed our majority to the governor, he did not accept the Congress and JD (S) to form the government.”
Lobo further said, “This is the murder of democracy. Modi is acting like a dictator, which is a tragedy for our country. Our leaders brought freedom to the country and in the last 70 years, the country has developed in every field. The BJP and its leaders have no trust in democracy. We are not sure whether democracy will prevail in our country in the coming days. If the governor or the Central government fails in retaining democracy, we will have to get to the streets and fight. The governor should reconsider people’s demand and give an opportunity to the Congress and JD(S) to form the government.”
DCC president Harish Kumar and other Congress leaders were also present.
