Modi Has Given Only Stand-up, Sit-up and Shut-up Schemes to People – Ramanath Rai
Mangaluru: The District Congress leaders staged a protest against the NDA government’s Rs 45,000 crore Rafale scam in front of the DC office here on September 11. The protesters marched in a procession from Balmatta which culminated in front of the DC office.
Addressing the protesters Former District In-charge minister Ramanath Rai said, “When the UPA government was in power it had decided to purchase the Rafale fighter planes. Each plane was costing Rs 600 crores and the UPA government had signed the contract. But now the NDA government has cancelled the deal done by the UPA government and have done a deal for Rs 45000 crore. We had made an agreement with France through the HAL since it comes under the government. But the NDA government has cancelled the deal with France and given the contract to a newly started company owned by Reliance.”
Ramanath Rai further said, “In Nepal and Pakistan the price of fuel is less. When the price of fuel is less in countries that import fuel from us, why is the price so high for us? The rupee is weakening against the Dollar but Modi is not bothered to stop the Rupee from falling further. When the oil price in the international market was $140 the UPA government had provided petrol at Rs 64 per litre but now when the crude oil price in the market is $40 the petrol price in our country is Rs 84. Before coming to power Modi said, “Vote for me to bring acche din”. But even after four years, people of this country did not get any acche din. In the name of Jan Dhan account Modi forced the people to open bank accounts but till date, no one has got even Rs 10 from the Jan Dhan Yojana. Modi also assured to get black money back from the Swiss bank but he has been unable to bring back the black money as his term is about to end. According to the survey, 99.3% of the Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes that were withdrawn from circulation are returned and it proved that there is no black money in the Swiss bank. Modi and the BJP leaders are good at telling lies. They are fooling the people in the name of Hindutva. The BJP now betting on the Hindutva balloon it has left to fly, once the Hindutva balloon bursts BJP will realize. Modi has given only stand-up, sit-up and shut-up schemes to the people.”
Ramanath Rai also said, “The former ministers Yashwant Sinha and Arun Shourie recently said that the Rafale deal is a case of monumental criminal misconduct by the NDA government and it is bigger than the Bofors scam. Demanding a time-bound probe into the Rafale deal by national auditor CAG, former Union ministers Yashwant Sinha and Arun Shourie said the Rafale deal scam is much bigger than the Bofors scandal. The Bofors scam was investigated and Rajiv Gandhi was given a clean chit. Now why there is no investigation on the Rafale deal scam?”, Rai questioned
Further criticising the BJP leaders claiming that the Congress workers pelted stones during Bharat Bandh, Ramanath Rai said, “The fuel rate has drastically increased and most of the people are facing financial crisis. But the BJP leaders are good at telling lies. Our former MLA J R Lobo along with the Congress leaders and party workers were protesting peacefully at the Jyothi circle. The BJP MLA purposely came to the protest spot to create violence. If any of our members have pelted stones let the police investigate and punish them.”
Former MLA J R Lobo, DCC President Harish Kumar also spoke on the occasion. Former MLA Moideen Bava, former Mayors Sashidhar Hegde and Kavitha Sanil, Shalet Pinto, Mamatha Gatti and other leaders were also present.
