Mother and son killed in road mishap
Karkal: In a tragic road mishap, a mother and child were killed on the spot and the father was seriously injured near Nitte here on Sunday, June 26.
The deceased has been identified as Soumya (28) and her son Shrewanth (3), residents of Jantra, Pilar near Belman. Bike rider Ganesh, husband of Soumya, was rushed to a private hospital in Manipal for treatment.
According to the police, Ganesh and his family were on their way to Halekatte from Nelligudde on the bike when an oncoming pickup hit them. Soumya and Shrewanth were killed on the spot.
According to the locals, the reckless driving by the pickup driver is the main cause of the accident.
The Karkala rural police have registered a case.
