‘Muller Medi Expo 2023’ on October 13-14, 25th MBBS Batch Inaugural on Oct 16

 

Mangaluru: ‘Muller Medi Expo 2023’ will be held at Father Muller Convention Centre on October 13 and 14, on behalf of the Father Muller Medical College silver jubilee celebration of the UG programme (MBBS) and the Father Muller Research Centre will introduce the talents of the youth of schools in and around the city. Students will be presenting different models on various projects like, robotic arms, small dialysis machines and painless injections along with health related models and nutrition advice.

The expo will have free medical examinations. The talents of the young minds will be awarded cash prizes. Around 131 groups from various colleges and schools in and around Mangaluru will be showcasing their health models. Different categories namely class 6 to 8, class 9 to 12, diploma and allied courses will take part. Free entry into the exhibition. The main objective of the expo is to create health awareness among the public and aid young minds into research works.

The inaugural will be held at 10 am on October 13 and the exhibition will last for 2 days i.e.; October 13 and 14 from 9 am – 3 pm. The inaugural will be done by Dr Sathyabodh Kulkarni, dean research and consultancy NITK, Surathkal. Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho will preside over the inaugural. Chief of research of the Father Muller Research Centre is the organizer of the event.

Further, to mark the 25 years of MBBS Programme of the Father Muller College various events are scheduled for the whole celebratory year. A thanksgiving Mass will be held on October 16 at 7:30 am in the St Joseph Chapel led by Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, bishop of Mangalore and president of FMCI. Thereafter at 3.30 pm, the inaugural ceremony of the 25th Batch of MBBS students for the new academic (23-24) year will be held. Parents and guardians will be present to witness the event where Ghana P Kumara, KSPS, deputy superintendent of police Puttur sub division will be the chief guest.

Addressing the media on Thursday October 12, the Alumni Association led by Dr Archana Bhat (associate professor general medicine) who is the first batch student of FMMC and currently the faculty, listed the various activities of the association to be held in the silver jubilee year. Various state, international chapters will be opened of the association and the FMCI history will be captured in the coffee table book to be released next year, she said.

Fr Ajith B Menezes, administrator FMMC/FMCP/FMCOAHS spoke on the admission process into the medical stream while dean Dr Antony Sylvan D’Souza spoke on the various activities and increments of seats to be added into the college. Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, director FMCI welcomed and thanked the gathered for their presence and enlisted the ongoing development in the institutions.

Fr George Jeevan Sequeira, administrator, FMMCH and Fr Nelson Dheeraj Pais, assistant administrator, FMCI, were present.
