Padma Shri Awardee Prof Anant Agarwal to give Endowment Lecture at SAC

Mangaluru: According to Ashok M Prasad, the Convener, has stated that Renowned Professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) USA & CEO of edX and meritorious Aluminous of St Aloysius College, Mangaluru, Prof Anant Agarwal will be delivering an “Endowment Lecture” on Monday, 8 January 2018 at 2:30pm in St Aloysius College, Mangaluru. During this programme, He will be felicitated by the College for his meritorious contribution to the society.

For his outstanding achievement, Prof Anant Agarwal was honoured by Padma Shri Award, the Fourth Highest Civilian Award of Republic of India in 2017 by the Government of India. He is the recipient of Maurice Wilkes Award for Computer Architecture, Harold W. McGraw, Jr. Prize in Education in Higher Education, as an outstanding leader of the development of the Massive Open Online Course movement (MOOC) in 2016.

He being a Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Director of the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), will be delivering Endowment lecture in the field of Computer Science and Engineering. Students from Under Graduate and Post Graduate sections will be the beneficiary of the program.

Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ, Rector of St Aloysius College Institutions, will preside over the function. Dr Praveen Martis SJ, Principal, will be present during the occasion. The programme is sponsored by ‘Star College Scheme’.

  • Invitees are requested to occupy their seats by 2:30 pm.
  • Mobile phones shall be in switched off mode during the entire programme
  • The venue of the programme will be at Fr L F Rasquinha Auditorium, Fifth Floor, LCRI Building, Behind Administrative Block of the College
  • All Guests are requested to be present for the entire duration of the programme and leave the auditorium only after the National Anthem
