Parupalli Kashyap goes down fighting in Canada Open final

Calgary: Ace Indian shuttler Parupalli Kashyap went down fighting in a thrilling men’s singles final of the Canada Open Super 100 tournament against China’s Li Shi Feng.

Sixth seed Kashyap, lost 22-20, 14-21, 17-21 in the summit clash that lasted an hour and 16 minutes on Sunday night.

The 2014 Commonwealth Games champion, who had come through three gruelling matches to make it to the final, managed to pull off the opening game against the Chinese opponent 22-20.

He, however, struggled in the second and third and eventually lost them 14-21, 17-21, thus losing the match.

“Silver it is at Canada Open. It was a good fight in the final. Lost to Li Shi Feng (China) 22-20, 14-21, 17-21. Can’t say it was the best I played this week but overall it was a good week here,” Kashyap tweeted.

The 32-year-old will now participate in the US Open Super 300 event.
