Pejawar Swamiji Calls for Government Intervention Amidst Reports of Atrocities Against Hindus in Bangladesh
Udupi: Sri Vishwaprasanna Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math has voiced profound concern over the persistent violence targeting the Hindu minority in Bangladesh, urging the Central Government to take swift and resolute action to address the escalating crisis.
Swamiji has formally communicated his concerns to Prime Minister Narendra Modi via a letter, emphasizing the severity of the situation. In his correspondence, the Swamiji underscored the Hindu community’s historical commitment to peace, coexistence, and global well-being, noting its consistent rejection of violence as a tool for dominance. He lamented that the ongoing reports of barbaric attacks, killings, and sexual violence perpetrated against Hindus in Bangladesh have caused deep distress and anguish among Hindus in India.
The letter further highlighted India’s past humanitarian gesture of providing protection and asylum to former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during a period of diplomatic instability, thereby ensuring her safety. The Swamiji acknowledged this act as a testament to India’s magnanimity. However, he expressed deep regret that the Hindu community in Bangladesh continues to endure suffering, insecurity, and hardship despite this gesture.
Sri Vishwaprasanna Theertha Swamiji, also a Central Council member of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, implored the Central Government to urgently deploy all available diplomatic channels to guarantee the safety, protection, and peaceful existence of Hindus residing in Bangladesh. He stressed the need for proactive measures to alleviate the plight of the affected community and to prevent further escalation of violence.
Call to Light Lamps and Offer Prayers on January 10:
In a separate appeal directed to the Hindu community throughout India, the Pejawar Swamiji has called upon individuals to light an additional lamp, alongside their daily lamp, in their homes, monasteries, and temples on Saturday, January 10th. He urged devotees to engage in fervent prayer, seeking an end to the deadly atrocities inflicted upon Hindus in Bangladesh. Specifically, he requested prayers for the salvation of those who have perished in the violence, for the immediate safeguarding of the affected Hindu population, and for the restoration of peace and harmony throughout the world. The Swamiji’s appeal reflects a desire for both divine intervention and collective action to address the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
