Police Permission Denied for Mangaluru Chalo bike Rally

Mangaluru: To maintain the law and order situation in the district, the Police commissioner has denied permission to hold the Mangaluru Chalo bike rally organized by the BJP Yuva Morcha on September 7 to demand a ban on PFI and SDPI organizations.

The BJP Yuva Morcha had organized the Mangaluru Chalo Bike rally and supporters from five districts were expected to reach Mangaluru on bikes on September 7 and gather at the Nehru Maidan.

On September 4, Police Commissioner Suresh held a meeting with the police officers and decided not to permit the Mangaluru Chalo bike rally.

On September 3, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel in a press meet had said that the BJP would hold the Mangaluru Chalo bike rally at any cost. He had also said that all the necessary documents were submitted to the police department but permission was not yet granted.

On September 4, the President of District Youth Congress Mithun Rai said, “If the Mangaluru Chalo Bike rally will be organized there will be communal violence in the district. The people of DK want to live in peace and for the sake of peace and harmony in the district the police department should not give permission to hold the Mangaluru Chalo Bike rally”.
