Puttur Gang Rape Case,  8 more Arrested For Circulating Video on Social Media

Puttur: 8 more persons have been arrested in the Puttur gang-rape case on July 4.

The arrested have been identified as Muralidhar (29) from Kasba Puttur, Chandrashekar Mayya (47), Shreyans S (20), Poovappa K (26), Pavan Kumar (19), Mohit P G (18), Dhyan A N (18) and Advaith Kumar Naik (19) all from Puttur.

According to the police, on July 3, after the video of the gang rape of the Puttur college student was circulated on Social media the Puttur Women’s police filed a Suo-Motu case and started their investigation. During the investigations, the police come to know that Prakyanth a student from the Puttur College had uploaded the gang rape video as DP on his mobile. Another student Mohit from the same college had also downloaded the video on his mobile.

The college elections were held recently and there was enmity among two groups. In order to take revenge, Shreyans a student circulated the Video in the Social media. For Circulating the video of the indecent act, the police have arrested all the 8 persons.
Further investigation is on.
