Rowdy V Nagaraj and his sons Nabbed

Bengaluru: Nearly a month since rowdy sheeter V Nagaraj managed to remain elusive, a special team of the city police arrested him and his two sons from their hideout in Arcot, a town from the urban outskirts of Vellore in Tamil Nadu on Thursday.

Nagaraj and his two sons Gandhi and Shasthri were on the run since April 14, when their house and office in Srirampura was raided and the police recovered Rs. 14.82 crore of demonetized notes stacked there.

Nagaraj who gave tough time for the police by not using mobile phones and if he used one, he kept changing SIM cards that were supplied to him by one of his relative Sujith, and also by calling from different remote locations to mislead the trails.

He also managed to send two CDs to the media through his advocate where he blamed the chief minister and a few senior police officers who were ‘fixing’ him by foisting false cases on him. He also said the money belonged to a man named Manjunath who claimed to be CM’s PA and at his behest, the police had planted the cash in his house while conducting the raid.

Nagaraj, however, through his advocate was desperately trying to secure a bail, but in vain.
A team of police led by ACP Ravi Kumar, who was on the manhunt, tracked him at Arcot and nabbed him after a brief chase while he ventured out from his hideout to make a phone call, police sources said. The police have earlier arrested five of his associates to collect clues about his whereabouts of hideout, sources added
