Self-styled Godman arrested for rape and cheating women
Kakkanad: A self-styled godman was arrested by the Thrikkakara police for his alleged involvement in fraud. He was offering high profile jobs to women and sexually abusing them.
The accused has been identified as Unnikrishnan alias Kannan (30), a resident of Kallungal, Engandiyur of Thrissur.
According to the police, Unnikrishnan rented a house at Brahmapuram in Kochi. While signing the tenancy contract he had said that he was a Neurosurgeon. Unnikrishnan conducted interviews for women promising them of giving high-profile jobs in IT firms at the Cochin Special Economic Zone. He had provided accommodation for women in a rented flat and was visiting the place regularly.
All of a sudden three of the IT professionals disappeared and their parents filed a complaint in the police station. Recently Unnikrishnan invited one of the girl’s family to his apartment to attend the Puja. To their surprise, the girl revealed that Unnikrishnan had duped her of her gold ornaments and cash. He has also duped other women promising them high profile jobs and raped them.
Unnikrishnan was arrested by the police, a double-edged knife, laptops, mobile phones, and a pistol was seized from him.
Unnikrishnan is already married and his wife resides in Engandiyur. He has married another girl in Kochi and lives with her adjacent to the apartment where other women have been housed.
A case has been registered in the Thrikkara police station.
