Shiroor Swamiji Accorded Grand Welcome During Pura Pravesha in Udupi

Udupi: Sri Vedavardhana Theertha Swamiji, the Mathadheesha of Shiroor Math, received a rousing welcome during his Pura Pravesha ceremony held on Friday in Udupi. The ceremony marked the Swamiji’s inaugural ascent to the Sarvajna Peetha of Sri Krishna Math.

The Swamiji commenced the procession after offering prayers at Sri Ramachandra Devaru and Sri Mukhyaprana at the Shiroor Moola Math. Following this, he visited Sri Mahishamardini Temple at Kadiyali, where he observed the procession in the company of esteemed dignitaries. Subsequently, he advanced ahead of the deity’s golden palanquin and was then seated on a specially adorned chariot, from which he was transported to Sri Krishna Math.

The procession was a vibrant display of culture and devotion, featuring colorful cultural troupes, diverse chande (traditional drum) ensembles, bhajana mandalis, and representatives from numerous organizations. The procession route encompassed Kadiyali, Kalsanka, City Bus Stand, Kidiyoor Hotel Road, Bus Stand, Hanuman (Triveni) Circle, Kanakadasa Road, and culminated at Car Street (Ratha Beedi).

The event was attended by prominent figures, including MP Kota Srinivas Poojary, MLAs Yashpal Suvarna and Kiran Kumar Kodgi, former minister Pramod Madhwaraj, former MLA Raghupathi Bhat, Deputy Commissioner Swaroopa T.K., and other notable personalities such as Prasad Raj Kanchan, Kishan Hegde, Pradeep Kumar Kalkoor, Dr H.S. Ballal, and Indrali Jayakar Shetty.

To accommodate the procession, traffic arrangements were modified along the route from Kadiyali to Sri Krishna Math. Thousands of onlookers, including schoolchildren and citizens, lined the streets to witness the grand spectacle.

Upon arrival at Ratha Beedi, the Swamiji offered darshan of Sri Krishna through Kanakana Kindi, followed by prayers at Sri Chandramouleeswara, Sri Anantheshwara Devaru, and Sri Krishna Mukhyaprana Devaru. He then proceeded to the civic felicitation venue organized by the Udupi City Municipality, where he was honored by the municipality, various organizations, and members of the public.

Notably absent from the event was District In-charge Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar, who traditionally participates in such Pura Pravesha ceremonies. Her absence did not go unnoticed.
