St Anthony’s Ashram Jeppu holds Vespers in honour of our Lady of Assumption and prayer for the Nation on the Occasion of Independence day

Mangaluru: St Anthony’s Ashram Jeppu held Vespers on the eve of the feast of Our Lady of Assumption.

Director of the Ashram Fr Onil D’Souza in his homily said that the 15th August is a day of double joy for the Catholics in India. It looks that two incidents i.e. the feast of Our Lady of Assumption and day of Independence seem to be a coincidence. But in God’s wisdom, it’s a
planned incidence. The feast of Assumption of our Lady has a message to those who believe in Him. Those who would like to be free need to be obedient to His will like Mother Mary. She always discerned the will of God and remained faithful life to Him. As a reward for her commitment and faithful life, God has assumed in her body and soul into heaven. That’s the greatest award any human being can aspire for. Fr D’Souza invited the faithful to imitate Mother Mary in discerning the will of God and walk in the footsteps of Jesus.

Fr Alban Rodrigues the administrator of the Institutes led the devotion of Rosary. Each decade of Rosary was prayed for a particular need of the country. Mr Vincent Fernandes of ‘ Mogachi Lahram’ conducted the choir. Fr Roshan D’Souza the Asst. Director of the Ashram was present.
