Student Induction Programme “NAVYARAMBH 2023” to be organized by Yenepoya Institute of Arts Science Commerce and Management (YIACSM)- a constituent Unit of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) Balmatta/Kulur

Mangaluru: During the press meet held at Mangaluru Press Club, it was revealed that The Yenepoya Institute of Arts Science Commerce and Management – A constituent Unit of Yenepoya(Deemed to be University) Balmatta | Kulur will organize a Student Induction Programme “NAVYARAMBH 2023” from 17 October 2023 to 23 October 2023, for the new Post Graduate batch of students of MBA, MCA, and MSc at Bangra Kulur Campus.

The Postgraduate (PG) Student Induction Programme is an essential component of higher education institutions. Towards this end the ‘Navyarambh 2023’ – PG Student Induction Programme is designed to provide incoming postgraduate students with the information, support, and resources they need to transition smoothly into their postgraduate academic programs.

Post Graduate Programmes offered during 2023-24 :

Food Science, Nutrition, and Dietetics: M.Sc. Applied Nutrition and Dietetics –Newly launched

Hospitality Management: M.Sc. Hospitality and Tourism Management – Newly launched Microbiology  MSc Microbiology (Industrial and Medical Microbiology) – Newly launched

Chemistry: M.Sc. Analytical Chemistry; M.Sc. Organic Chemistry; M.Sc. Chemistry

Computer Science: MCA/MSc- Computer Science (Cloud Computing and DevOps); MCA/MSc- Computer Science (Cyber Security and Ethical Hacking); MCA/MSc- Computer Science (AI/Ml and Data Science); MCA/MSc- Computer Science (Data Science and Big Data Analytics); MCA/MSc- Computer Science (IoT and Cloud Computing)

Regarding the Program- Navyarambh:

Navyarambh is an inclusive induction programme on up-skilling processes resulting in positive outcomes for post-graduates. Navyarambh will be a significant event of the college, conducted at a common platform across all disciplines, symbolizing the initiation of postgraduate students into a new phase of their academic journey; emphasizing the importance of dedication and commitment in higher education.

In this regard, to bring them under one common learning platform and to prepare them for postgraduate education, some common subjects which are not part of the PG curriculum but needed for post-graduate education, that facilitates smooth and effective learning process are identified and incorporated into this PG Orientation. Navyarambh includes personality development, communication skills, attitudes, code of conduct, and campus etiquette. Other inclusions are campus tours; and introductions to key faculty and facilities.

This is an opportunity to introduce the PG students to the various support services, such as libraries, research, career services, counselling and IT facilities. It offers information on student cells and extracurricular activities. These events aim to create a sense of enthusiasm, commitment, and dedication among postgraduate students towards their academics, research and personal growth. Further, the students will be briefed about the college, vision, mission, curriculum and evaluation system; to teach the basic values and provide a platform to get accustomed to this institution.

During the induction program, students will receive important academic information such as individual program requirements, specialization/course selection, research opportunities and academic support services. This ensures that students clearly understand what is expected of them during their 2 years of postgraduate studies in this institution.

Building a sense of community among the postgraduate students is an important part of this induction program. It helps students navigate the nuances of college life networking opportunities and activities that help students connect with their peers and establish a support network for collaborative performance. Faculty members and administrators will discuss academic expectations, assessment methods and research/internship requirements. This will help students understand what they need to do to succeed in their respective programs. The program includes an overview/feedback from faculty/students regarding the induction program to continuously improve it.
