Talk on ‘Relevance of Gandhiji’s Philosophy Today’ at St Aloysius PUC

 Mangaluru : In commemoration of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, talks on “Relevance of Gandhiji’s Philosophy Today” were organised for the students of St Aloysius P U College. The resource person Mahesh Nayak, Executive Editor of Mangalore Today, English Monthly Magazine addressed the Science students on 16 October 2019 and Dr K M Lokesh, Professor, Department of Studies in History, Mangalore University, addressed the Commerce and Arts students on 18 October 2019.

 
 

The resource persons briefed the students on the Philosophies of Truth, Ahimsa, Satyagraha and Sarvodaya that were put forward by Mahatma Gandhi with a view to make the world a better place to live in. They highlighted Gandhiji’s fight against imperialism incorporating Indian Philosophy and tradition, using peaceful non-violent methods that provide long- term and sustainable results, his concern for the environment and his desire to create a self-reliant society.

The students gained a valuable and distinct insight into these wonderful principles which are practical, relevant and can bring in a positive change just as the Father of our Nation had envisioned.

The Principal of St Aloysius P U College, Rev. Fr Clifford Sequeira S J, Vice Principals, Deans, staff and around 4000 students enriched their knowledge on Gandhian philosophy through these sessions. Mrs Kiran Shetty, Dean was the Convener of the programme.
