Tredicina Devotion to St Anthony of Padua Begins at Jeppu & Milagres Ahead of Annual Feast

Mangaluru: The spiritual atmosphere in Mangalore was enlivened with devotion and anticipation as the Tredicina—a 13-day novena in preparation for the annual feast of St Anthony of Padua—commenced on May 31, 2025, at St Anthony Ashram, Jeppu, and Milagres Church, Mangaluru.

The inaugural ceremony was marked by the hoisting of the St Anthony’s Flag at the Ashram premises by Rev. Dr Ronald Serrao, Rector of St Joseph Seminary, Jeppu, who also presided over the first novena Mass. He was joined by Rev. Fr J B Crasta, Director of St Anthony’s Charitable Institutions, Rev. Fr Vivian Nishanth Rodrigues, Assistant Director, and Fr Praveen Martis, Administrator of the Ashram.

Earlier in the morning, Fr Vivian Rodrigues celebrated the 6:00 AM Mass for the Ashram residents at the Chapel.

In the evening, Rev. Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo, Designate Director of FMCI, Kankanady, celebrated the novena Mass at the St Anthony Shrine, Milagres Church. In his homily, he reflected on the theme: “Share your bread with the hungry,” resonating with the overarching novena theme, “Accompany the poor alongside St Anthony of Padua and march as pilgrims of hope.” His message encouraged the faithful to embody compassion and solidarity with the marginalized.

The launch of the Tredicina saw a significant gathering of devotees, with hundreds participating at both Jeppu and Milagres centres, united in prayer and devotion.
